This course will provide an overview of principles and practices of agricultural finance, from the perspective of producers, lenders, government, and financial institutions. Topics include (but not limited to) portfolio theory, capital sector, credit risk, financial planning, risk management, investment analysis, commodity markets, and financial institutions and intermediaries. Development of agricultural finance system and law in Taiwan, as well as the system in the U.S., will also be discussed. This course is primarily lecture-focused, but emphasizes class participation, presentation, team work, and critical thinking.
